Australian Unity (AU) is Australia’s largest mutual company that in In 2025, delivered $2.38 billion of social impact value. With an extensive business portfolio across wealth, healthcare, superannuation, and banking AU, set out to radically transform its 700-person technology function. The goal: simplify a complex federated structure, deliver $50m+ savings over five years, and reinvest in digital and customer initiatives. This meant centralising under a new leadership model, consolidating vendors into a strategic prime partner based in India, and creating a sustainable operating model to streamline applications, cut complexity and deliver an ambitious savings profile of $50m over five years , whilst enabling reinvestment.

To transition successfully to BAU the program required strong collaboration between the client and offshore teams ensuring operational stability and cultural integration in the new operating model. Flux developed a ways of working program building a virtual environment that brought onshore and offshore teams together and break down barriers. Flux created a ways of working playbook for leaders and introduced stabilisation metrics – service delivery and team performance indicators - to assess and monitor operational stability in transition

The transition to BAU was successfully completed with operational stability maintained throughout the stabilisation period clearly evidenced through the stabilisation metrics. The creative ways of working program effectively broke down cultural barriers and enabled collaboration. Flux comprehensively handed over program activities to BAU owners with documentation, process transfers and knowledge sharing to ensure continuity. The program delivered a fully integrated, cultural aligned blended team model set up for long term success and flexibility.
