CONTEXT
The Department’s strategy is to significantly strengthen program delivery capability and ensure investments are used effectively to safeguard Australia’s interests at home and abroad. To achieve this, an in-house consulting team has been established to guide and support the Department’s most complex projects—ensuring it operates as an informed, cohesive buyer and user of external expertise.

The Department set out to strengthen its in-house consulting capability with a structured approach to shaping initiatives and mobilising teams. Flux tailored its Jumpstart™ methodology and built an immersive training program, piloting the methods live on major programs. Supported by best-in-class guides, playbooks, and learning materials, Flux worked alongside the team to test and refine the approach across three pilot programs—embedding capability for long-term impact.

IMPACT
Flux delivered immediate value in the pilots, driving strong advocacy and rapid adoption of the approach. The in-house consulting team now operates with a shared language, frameworks, and methods—enabling them to confidently launch major initiatives or recover stalled projects. The department has cut mobilisation times, can design and structure programs and management offices more effectively, and applies advanced visioning and planning techniques to align leaders across the entire portfolio.
